Offline Consulting – What It Takes To Be An Offline Consultant

The offline consultant niche seems to be ever increasing in popularity.

And why not? Local businesses need help with their websites, SEO, online marketing, and other internet-related stuff.

Bottom-line is they’re too preoccupied to do it themselves. And, many people are willing to step in and do it if they onl;y knew how.

So I started a new website and blog for the would-be offline consultant.

Through examples and real-life strategies, I’ll show you step-by-step how to generate local offline clients, what to offer them and how to get paid as an offline marketing consultant.

So, if you’re interested in the Offline Consulting field, be sure to go to the Offline Marketing Consultant website.

One Paper Cash System – For Offline Marketing Consultants

Have you heard about the “One Paper Cash System” ????

It’s been the “buzz” in the Offline Marketing market lately and I’m not sure what to make of it.

It’s co-authored by Maria Gudelis who’s a veteran offliner. I haven’t purchased it myself…yet.

I found it odd that there were grammatical errors, missing words, etc on the sales page. However, there’s a neat little email message you can use when you contact business owners or people on Craigslist looking for SEO, websites, or other related stuff.

Check it out: (no affiliate) HERE

But one thing I agree with is her statement: “Instead of trying to make money yourself with all the above tools… you simply make money setting them up for small businesses who don’t know the first thing about them!”

Basically you show the clients (after you nail down an appointment) this one single sheet of paper which is actually a sales message in disguise. But you don’t have to “sell it” at all. And according to maria, “What happens almost every time is the business owner will now discover what to do… but they don’t want to do it.”

In any event, if you decide to order, don’t pay the initial price of $77.00. Make sure you back OUT, and the price will then be reduced some 30 bucks.

Lemme know what you think if you do decide to purchase it. I may get it soon myself so come back for part II of this blog.

Google Places’ Changes and more….

By now many of you have notice that the search results on Google have changed somewhat…

Google Places has undergone a revision of sorts. What’s it all mean?

See this article here on Google Places changes

It means you best have your SEO act together. Now more than ever SEO is soooo important:
- On site SEO: Title Tags, meta description, keyword-rich content.
- Off site SEO: Backlinks, backlinks, and oh, umm, backlinks.

I like using the rule of 1/3:

- 1/3 of SEO is a keyword-rich Domain Name
- 1/3 is keyword-rich usage of Title Tags
- 1/3 is having a keyword-rich meta description plus

“H1″ tags (having your keywords in the first paragraph)
(and don’t forget to have keyword rich content on your page as well)

If most people looking to see themselves in the search engines (and on Google Places) would make sure they follow the rule of “1/3″ they’d have much better exposure –
without spending a whole bunch of green!

Flipping Websites – Leasing Websites… Which is best?

Hey Offliners…

As some of you may remember, I attempted to employ the “lease-a-site” model

So I chose roofers in RI….

I wasn’t really getting anywhere UNTIL I put up a Google Places listing…

Then I start gettin’ calls from customers…. and calling roofers to pass out the leads…

And one guy even gave me a kick back for job he got from it!! … So I started sending out postcards and cold calling roofers….

I’d tell em “I designed a roofing site for an online class, and now people are calling me… yada, yada, yada…”

Then this one roofer guy called and said “let’s talk” and basically just wanted it…
$197 — and he wants it for 5 years.

Actually I think I coulda got more, but it was an “expereience.”

P.S. When I changed the google map listing (and put his number on it) it
disappeared for now… which I had a feeling it might… I’ll see what happens.

Low down on SEO by Google & Co. | Optimizing a website the right way.

If you have a website, doing SEO correctly for your site can be confusing. Title page, meta description, keywords, images, etc. Here’s Matt Cutts laying it out with examples; What to do and what NOT to do.

Every little bit helps get your site to move up on the search engines.

Maybe you already know about all this SEO stuff, but doing a check on your site now and then will usually uncover something you may have overlooked.

Gotta question about offline marketing ?

Thanks for taking time to watch this video…

Are The Yellow Pages Really Dead?

Do you still use the actual Yellow Pages B-O-O-K ?   Y or N

The Yellow Pages Industry states that “”80% of all adults still use paper phone books.”

I still do. But then again, I also use it to locate businesses who are spending the big bucks for full and half page ads.

Then I see if they’re located on Google Places (first page).

If not, they’ll be hearing from me either by phone or direct mail.

So, don’t go chucking away your phone book just yet. Use it as a marketing tool.

Local Google Search Rankings… What Factors Affect It The Most?

According to comscore.com about 109 millionUS Internet users, (approx 63%) turned to a local search engine in July.

A survey of local search engine optimization (SEO) experts reveals that claiming a local place page or local listing, followed by having a business address in the city of search are most influential in affecting a local search ranking in the major search engines, Google, Bing and Yahoo.

David Mihm surveyed a group of 32 local SEO experts on what they considered to be the factors that most influenced a local search ranking in Google, Bing and Yahoo, both positively and negatively.

Specifically, the local SEO experts were asked to rate 69 items in relation to their influence on rankings in the Google, Bing and Yahoo Local “Universal” search algorithms. The ratings extended from -5 (‘can hurt your ranking / lead to penalty’) to +5 (‘very important for ranking well’) with 0 in the middle (‘doesn’t impact a local search ranking one way or another’).

Based on David Mihm’s findings, here are the top 5 factors for positively affecting a local search engine ranking:

1. General Importance of Claiming Place Page / Local Listing (+4.40)
2. Business Address in City of Search (+4.16)
3. Associating Place Page with Proper Categories (+3.91)
4. Volume of Citations from Major Data Providers + IYP Portals (+3.53)
5. General Importance of Off-Page / Off-Listing Criteria (+3.35)

Here are the top 5 factors for negatively affecting a local search engine ranking:

1. Multiple Place Pages with Same Phone Number (-2.75)
2. Not Showing Address on Your Place Page (-2.48)
3. Multiple Place Pages with Same Address (-2.33)
4. Listing PO Box on Website without a Physical Address (-1.61)
5. Multiple Place Pages with Same Business Title (-1.35)

Here are the top 5 factors with the lowest impact (positive or negative) on a local search engine ranking:

1. Including Location Keywords in Place Page Categories (-0.14)
2. Defining a Service Area for Your Place Page (0.47)
3. Location(s) in Place Page Custom Fields (0.84)
4. Including Coupons with Your Place Page (0.87)
5. Choosing List of Areas Served for Your Place Page (1.00)

For more details about the survey methodology and how to interpret the results, be sure to check out the report in full.
